Lovely early model Traditional finished in transparent blue, i.e. Chicago Blue. Released in 2010, the Traditional has the look of the vintage 50’s Les Paul you know and love including a glossy nitro finish, vintage tuners, and standard old school electronics. This model features a non-chambered mahogany back for a thick, meaty tone with a thick maple cap for the classic blend of warm mahogany and snappiness and clarity of the maple top. It does have the Swiss cheese routes that have been used since ca. ’81, but not the huge double chambers that started appearing in ’06. The top is actually AA grade flamed maple, although in lower light the flame isn’t that pronounced. The entire body (front/back) and neck are finished in high-gloss nitro lacquer and features a Gibson ’57 Classic (neck) and ’57 Classic Plus, which is slightly overwound, for the bridge position. Chrome pickup covers were removed by original owner and not available. Other features include a slightly chunky 50’s Neck Profile; Corian nut, angled headstock, bound 1-pc rosewood fretboard, 1.69″ nut width, 12″ radius, trapezoid inlays, antique binding, Nashville bridge with stop bar tailpiece, gold bell hat knobs and period correct cream binding, as well as cream pickguard, pickup rings, selector ring, and tip. Cosmetically it’s in very nice shape with only a few clear coat scratches on back and perhaps a finish impression here and there; overall really nice. Set up is low and buzz-free. This model is more “traditional” than 90% of the Pauls sold these days and sold new a few years back for $2199. It’s an excellent value today at just $1350. Includes clean original case with manual and warranty booklet. Note: Gold speed knobs and “Traditional” truss rod cover are correct for this guitar but we can swap out knobs and/or truss cover upon request.
