A lot of players are looking for the pre-chambered Les Pauls these days and the Studio offers the best value for the money. At 9.6 lbs., it’s not overly heavy for a non-chambered Paul. Despite a number of finish impressions, presents very well thanks to a nice buffing out by Martin who got rid of all the small scratches and judging by the frets (shown here), another guitar that’s seen little playing time but didn’t have a particularly meticulous owner. I’ve got to hand it to Gibson, they do build some nice necks and with the well-cured woods they were using early in the century they produced consistently great necks. This one’s no exception and it has a very comfortable set up and that fat ‘Paul tone we love. Maple top is mildly figured and with the buff job, has a nice shine all over. Nice value in a nitro-finished maple top Les Paul at $699. Includes Gibson wedge-shaped gigbag or for $49 substitute for SKB case with ATA latches.
